Sex Offender Registration
States are required by federal law to release relevant information about registered sex offenders to protect the public. Tennessee has an on-line, searchable database of sex offenders that includes photos of convicted offenders, their addresses, and the crimes they were convicted of committing.

Quarterly or Annual Reporting
Sex offenders are separated into two categories, either violent or non-violent. Those who are considered violent must report quarterly, while the rest are required to register once a year.
In Person Registration
Offenders must physically appear at a local law enforcement office or probation/parole office to register in person.
Removal from the Registry
Non-violent sexual offenders can petition to be removed from the list 10 years after his/her sentence had expired, but violent offenders can never be removed from the registry.
If more than 10 have passed since the end of your sentence for a non-violent sex crime, contact a Memphis sex crime attorney at McAfee & McAfee to discuss getting your name removed from the registry.
Failure to register as a sex offender and follow the provisions of the law is a Class E felony.
